- There will be no brakes during a set. IF you have an emergency and HAVE to go to the bathroom, remember that your matches are timed and it may affect the outcome of the set! (No sharking please!!!)
- ALL CELL PHONES MUST BE OFF OR IN SILENT MODE! You cannot answer a phone while you are playing a match! It’s courtesy and good sportsmanship.
- IN CASE OF A DISPUTE:
- If you need the tournament director to watch a hit, please let your opponent know that you are about to ask the director to approach the table. IF YOUR OPPONENT TAKES THE SHOT AFTER YOU WARNED HIM, it will be considered a “foul” and YOU will get ball in hand!
- If you do not call the director to watch a questionable shot, the ruling will ALWAYS go to the shooter! Please remember that we are all friends and are in the company of ladies and gentlemen!
- RULES:
- The three-foul-rule applies. Please make sure that you warn your opponent when he/she is on the 2 nd foul! The warning MUST be verbal AND visual! IF YOU DO NOT WARN YOUR OPPONENT and he/she fouls for the 3 rd time, the count starts from the beginning!
- A foul is committed when there is no contact between the object ball and the cue ball and/or some other ball does not make contact with the rail. Also you cannot move any ball on the table. You cannot alter the path of any balls in motion. This includes catching a falling cue ball in the pocket (it’s a foul let it drop and make sure it stops moving before picking it up). If you move ANY ball for ANY reason other than the intended shot, it will be considered a foul!
- First shot after any legal break, the player has the option to "push out" but this does not count as a legal hit. If an incoming player is on one foul and pushes they are still on one foul until a legal hit is made.
- PUSH: First shot after the break the player has the option to push out. This means the player does not have make contact with the lowest ball on the table (object ball) or make contact with a rail. The player can make any ball including the nine or spot balls but if he does, all spot balls and/or the nine get spotted. Incoming player then has the option to shoot or make his opponent shoot. You must tell your opponent that you’re pushing out or it is a foul and ball in hand.
- While having ball in hand the cue ball is live. Any contact with any balls on the table or if it drops in a hole it’s a foul and ball in hand for your opponent.
- Spot balls made on the break must be spotted. The player has no option. Players giving weight that make their opponent’s spot have the opportunity to run out to that spot and if they do the spot stays down. If the player fails to run out to the spot ball it is then spotted after missing. Players receiving weight that make their spot ball have to spot it immediately after the break. Players have no option the spot ball must be spotted.
- Players giving weight who make their opponents spot on a foul must spot the weight ball. If you are receiving weight and make your spot on a foul it stays down.
- Note from director:
Amateur handicapped tournaments are designed to allow players of different skill levels to play in the same format. It is a social event that enables players to have a good time and on occasion win a few bucks. New and beginner players have to keep in mind that pool tournaments are by definition difficult to win at any skill level. In order to become a better tournament player you have to play in tournaments. Unfortunately some players will go two and out even with good ratings. This does not mean that their rating is out of line just that it’s not their night. New players have to play long enough so that their ratings can be adjusted or established which ever may apply. Struggling player’s ratings are lowered so to allow them a better chance to win. Keep in mind that a proper attitude and mind set will do more for your performance than an adjustment in rating. On average, a player who has faith in the system and/ or their ability will perform better than others that have a poor attitude. Keep in mind we are all here to enjoy the competition but good sportsmanship is a must. This is an amateur tournament not designed to provide a living for its participants. However,r it does provide the opportunity for players to develop their skills, win some money while making new friend and enjoying each other's company! |
